Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Formally known as Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, Doncaster Sheffield Airport is situated outside of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. It is one of two airports in the Yorkshire area, the second being the much larger Leeds Bradford Airport. A statue of fictional character Robin Hood can be found within the terminal building. The airport is connected to the local area by road, rail and bus with a regular shuttle service travelling between the airport terminal and the city centre. The airport has been featured in the media on numerous occasions, most notably as a filming location for British comedy Come Fly with Me starring comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams. The airport terminal has six departure gates and a range of restaurants, shops and bars both airside and landside. Eligible passengers can also access the VIP lounge located at the airport, providing a peaceful retreat from the main terminal. Doncaster Sheffield Airport has a single runway, but it is notably one of the largest runways in Northern England making it suitable for wide-bodied aircraft. Due to its increased length and width the airport is a designated Space Shuttle emergency landing site.
